This
post card, which my great aunt Beatrice Ferguson sent in 1906, shows the Mill
Pond dam break on Summer Street on September 26. The old Robinson Iron Works
dam gave way and the mill pond was drained of water, destroying the abandoned
mill and sending a flood down stream across Newfield St. and Willard Place.
This vew shows the empty pond looking up towards 128 Summer St. The dam was
repaired and is now just west of the skateboard park on the Samuel Holmes playground.
